Concours D'Elegance

Anyway, after checking out of the hotel after CKU on Sunday, we headed up and over to Palo Alto to work our food booth at the car show. It was HOT! Even with hats and sunscreen, we got tanned and burned. We had two grills going. One for the buns and one for the 75 or so breakfast sandwiches that was sold in the morning, then we switched gears to chicken and steak sandwiches. We did sell out of the steak mid-afternoon and pretty much sold all the chicken. There was also nachos (didn't do well this year) and spamburgers (didn't do well at all). We were all pretty much hopping and stopping when the heat got to us.

By the time we took everything down at the end of the day and loaded and unloaded, it was 7 or 8PM. This Tuesday, we will finish cleaning up all the equipment and put it all away into storage until the next event.

Couple more pics

For some reason, I couldn't add any more pictures to the earlier post, so here they are of Danelle, Debby and Tim. I wanted to get one of Mellie, but somehow it just didn't work out. Sorry Mellie! I presented them with my president's pin, as for me, scrapping and Lionism goes hand in hand. If you click on Debby's picture, you'll see she's holding the pin. But they all were the teachers including Kristy of Cropper Hopper that really made an impression on me. Their enthusiasm is what makes me want to scrap more and better.....

A quickie!

OK! Not that kind!

Here's my badges. The flower one was from the bus tour that I took on Wednesday. We stopped at a bunch of stores and I was actually pretty good and didn't spend all my money!

The brown flower one was made by Danelle Johnson from Art Warehouse for our Personal Treasury album track for everyone.

One of the stops was at Hambly Studios where they print their own papers and overlays. Although the store was not big, I managed to pick up some stuff from them.

And here's the pictures of I think, all the goodies that I got. I didn't win anything from the crops as I didn't stay for it, so I think I came out with alot of stuff at any rate.

Back from CKU!

What a wonderful time I had! No, this is not the post where I'm going to tell you what happened. This is just to whet your appetite so you'll come back and see the pics of all the goodies I got! LOL!

I have to finish up some reports and do a bit of laundry and cleaning before I can come back and post. Maybe later this afternoon.

Almost time to go!

I'm so excited and dreading the next few days. I've been under the weather since the past weekend and have been trying to finish up getting ready for CKU. I'm hoping I can last each day without having to crash as I've been doing. I leave early tomorrow morning for a shopping tour and then demos and classes Thursday through Saturday. Sunday we are working the Concours D'Elegance in Palo Alto where it will be hot and busy!

Well, the storm's hit and aftermath....

Little bit of background. A popular message board that I joined over 5 years ago and one that I used to frequent recently underwent changes. Change we can cope with. However, as in all message boards and public places in the internet, there are rules. Rules are meant to be followed, it would seem. But if in the cases of the guidelines not followed by the moderators of the boards, would you not be somewhat upset? I think a person would justifibly feel that way when they don't even get a response to requests as to what happened or their reasons for banning. This has happened to a few of my friends and it greatly saddens me. Read //nanascrap.blogspot.com/this post. I also had a post pulled as I was told/reprimanded that my comment was backhanded. A praise was backhanded? Ummm. ok. If you say so. As I said earlier, this is a message board that I used to frequent.

Touching base

Well, it's been awhile since I've updated, it seems. I've been working on my homework for CKU which is coming up in a few weeks. Just so you have something to look at, here's a couple of pictures of Mom and me. The first one was taken about 35 years ago and the other, about 10 years ago.

Here's another of Emil and me on our first cruise.

We're going to another dress up dinner Saturday, so will post more then!

On a slightly more serious note, my mom went to the dermatologist today for a mole that has been growing, so he's planning to do a biopsy in a few weeks. I don't think there's anything wrong with it (as in malignant, but send a few prayers over this way, please). I don't forsee any problems, as she had one removed a few years ago with no problems. Also, my buddy's mom just found out that she's having some heart problems so prayers sent her way would be appreciated, too.

OK, back to some happy news. Michael just bought a new car! Well, it's an old car, but it's a new car for him. Get it? It's an 1995 Corvette! In green, not red as I told some people. Ooops! I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be a sunnier day!
