Charter clubs dinner

District Governor Eugene and me at last night's Charter dinner. Two new clubs had a joint installation last night. Unfortunately, the batteries to my camera died (forgot to bring the extra!) and only got a couple of pictures.

The invitation

What do you know? Two entries in one day!

Anyway, here's the front of the invitation that's going out at the end of the month. The inside's the same as the flyer posted below.

Junior Olympics

We just had our annual Junior Olympics with 5 schools and over 250 children participating.

I haven't downloaded all the pictures yet, but I like this one of the winners checking out their medals. They sure were excited to get them!

Emil caught me taking a break, then we got a picture of the two of us!

Don't we just look good together????

Got my flyer done!

This is what I'm sending out to the clubs to invite them to my dinner. I'm making cards for the past district governers and to those who expressed interest in coming. Not done with those yet, but I've got a month before I need to send everything out. With CKU coming up, I wanted to get as much done as possible before hand.

Fishing story

OK, so I told Heidi she'd have to read my blog to hear this fish story.

Many years ago when the kids were still small, like 3 and 10 or so, we rented a boat to fish in the lake (stocked with trout) and so Michelle caught 5 fairly quickly. Michael caught a couple and I got lucky (I really think the fish were hungry that day!) and got the limit. Poor Emil didn't catch a single one and here I am with the light-weight pole reeling them in and he looks at me with the saddest face "Can I take your pole?" " I want to catch one!" OK, I must have been feeling pretty ornery since I usually am lucky to get one, and I said no. Now that I think back about it, I probably should have let him have one, but sheesh, my fish, my pole...........and the pouting face of a grown man.....

All Dressed Up

Aren't I cute??????????

My outfit for my hazing. So I had to go out and about with my little basket of chocolate kisses. I figured the fastest way I could get rid of it all was to toss it everyone while I was yelling "Heads Up!"

CATCH!!!!!!!!!

Emil's award

I just downloaded my camera but still have Emil's and two other cameras to get pictures from. I wanted to share this one first.

The trophy is the Si Moyer-Rick Nuccitelli Award which is the District Governor's Award for service to the District Governor and the Lions of the district. It's perpetual, so he gets to keep it for a year and then it goes on to the next person. The Governor was very thoughtful and made the plaque for him, so he could always remember this, too. I'm very proud of him!

Album cover and a few pages

So, I'm done with the album, except for the last couple of events, but I guess I'll have to add them on after the convention when I'm not rushed for time.

First picture is the cover of the album. The rest pretty tells you the

event. Click on the photos

to get a better view. Sorry if the photos are at a weird spot....

Here's our convention schedule in a nutshell:
Wed. - 11am meeting with the hotel to go over everything and to set things up, then they treat us for lunch! LOL!!! Then we need to plan seating arrangements for everyone for Fri. & Sat night dinners (about 225 people)
Thurs. - decorate our hospitality room (this is where anyone can come in and have a drink when we're open, plus there's a contest for best decorated). Dinner will be buffet.
Friday - we're serving brandy flips and breakfast at 7am outside. Meeting at 10am. lunch with guest speaker and honoring club presidents. Then whomever is running for office have their announcements. Costume parade at 1PM. Dinner will be Gilligan's Island theme and another contest here. Amatuer show (various club participates, but not us this year), then tube steaks (hot dogs!) are served after (around 11ish)
Saturday - Breakfast, memorial service, tail twister contest, elections, meetings and all the clubs that are participating in the food fair (our lunch) gets ready for that. Meetings afterwards, then formal dinner where next year's cabinet is announced and anyone whos getting awards (also presented on Fri. dinners) gets it tonight and people are reconized for their work, also.
Sun. we meet with the hotel again to settle whatever needs to be done while everyone else goes home. We generally don't get home until near the end of day, at least.
