Our first official visitation...

We left home Friday at noon and picked up DG Maxine and headed out to Modesto. It didn't take us long to arrive, about a couple of hours. The Hampton Inn is new, so it was really nice and roomy. Five minutes after checking into our room, we got a call from the front desk asking if our room was ok and whether or not we needed a wake up call.

We called VDG Pat and arranged to be picked up after a bit. After unpacking and goofing off a bit, we headed across the hall to DG Maxine's room and DG Jim was there, so we chatted a bit. We ended up meeting at the lobby with another couple, PDG Bill and his wife, Marcia. VDG's hubby, Frank also came in his car and we all headed to their house for cocktails prior to heading to the park for their dinner and installation. Their house is very nice, she collects frogs (you'd have loved it, Stacy!) and teapots and have a few dolls.

Their dinner and installation was at the park not too far away and held in the gazebo. They had all the barbeque pits going (greek chicken) and dinner was great! They then had their installation dinner (PDG Bill was the installing officer).

Right after the cabinet meeting the following day, we headed back home. Emil had an installation for the SF Premier Club that evening. Traffic was pretty horrible, as there was a 49er's game so getting onto the Bay Bridge was backed up. It was so bad that the incoming president and alot of people arrived right when the dinner started, and that was with a delay. Another club didn't get there until after the officers were installed.

They had a band made up of gifted children. The singer was a 10 year old girl (should have gotten her name!) who had a wonderful voice and sang a Filipino song and a few other songs (Heya by Outkast and an Earth, Wind & Fire song).

Been awhile....

It's been so busy!

Since my last post, we've been to 3 installations, went to a baby shower for my brother and sister-in-law, a meeting at the Lions Eye Foundation, Emil went to the Council of Governor's meeting, but I stayed behind.

One of my bosses is on vacation this week, so we gathered all the old charts and stuff that was over 10 years old and piled it all up for shredding. Boy, was I tired after!

Anyway, this afternoon, we're headed to Modesto for their cabinet meeting. It will be our first official visitation to another district. It should be nice, well, it's supposed to hit 92 according to the weatherman and the fuction will be a picnic, with their installation that evening there. Then tomorrow is their cabinet meeting and we have to leave right after, as Emil will be doing the installation for the SF Premier club. Should be a big to-do. And I have to decide today what I'll wear, since it would be a big rush when we get home. Lucky Emil just will be wearing his uniform.

Sunday will be another installation dinner for the Peninsula Council. Dress up again.

One of the ladies gave me a reminder tht Mars will be the brightest this month. On August 27th it will be the closest to Earth. Look up at the sky at 12:30 AM and you might be able to see the two moons. The next time Mars comes this close again will be 2287. I think I might miss that.
