Monthly Roundup

A blog that I read on occasion happened to have this set of questions today. I thought it was a good reminder of what's happened in the past month, so here it is:

What books and/or magazines did I read this month? Light of the Silvery Moon – Dean Koontz, Magazines: More, Real Simple, and a couple stamp/SB magazines.
What movies and/or tv shows did I watch this month? I finally remembered to watch ER and CSI! LOL! Guilty TV pleasure has been Rock of Love, when I happen to catch it.
What special days did I celebrate and how? As a Lion, the special day was Awards Night. This was the evening where I had the opportunity to thank all the members and officers of the club for all their hard work under my year as president. On a personal level, my brothers and I got together with our cousins for dinner. We don’t get to see them all the time, so it was a fun evening out. It was also Emil’s last day to work, so he’s officially retired!
What gifts did I give and/or receive? Again, as a Lion, I got a perfect attendance award. I only missed one meeting the whole year.
What illnesses or health concerns did I have? Emil was sick the beginning of the month, but fortunately with 3 different antibiotics, he’s fine now.
What fun things did I do with my friends and/or family? See above. We went out to dinner with a friend and had a good time catching up.
What new foods, recipes or restaurants did I try this month? We ate out a lot! Michael and I did eat at a Japanese restaurant one evening, then Emil and I went to Nick’s (of course!), Sannpo, Il Fornaio, Kenny’s, Parkside Restaurant and the Elk’s Lodge.
What special or unusual purchases did I make? Bought a couple of new fonts, Daisy and Tootsie for my Big Kick!
What were this month's disappointments? None!
What were my accomplishments this month? I did alittle scrap/crafting. Hope to do more next month!
Anything else noteworthy to record? Didn’t break anything! LOL!

Fog Fest Parade

This morning we participated in the Fog Fest Parade. It's a great way for exposure and we had a sign on the top of the car saying where the money we collect goes to. Wish we could have stayed and seen the various booths but since there was no where to park afterwards, we just went out for brunch.

It was a great day and we were a bit worried that it might rain, since it drizzled yesterday.

WHOOOOPEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

He's offically retired!

Today was his last day at work.

No more paper, no more books,
No more anyone's dirty looks!

So now he's the man of the house. He says he's a kept man now. Ok, so this kept man has a mile and a hundred more of things to do on the "honey do" list.

And he's got his Lion's things that he has to do.

Should keep him busy, anyway!

Oh, yeah, he's applied to be an enrolled agent. So he really will continue to work, just not everyday.

Finally!

I got to play, today! These are gift tags and the box it goes into. It's 3 x 3 and thanks to the Shackies, I've got some raffle prizes and gifts.

Sorry the box is blurry, though! I'll have to try and re-take that!

Awards Night

Well, let's just say it went well.....

Gee, time sure does fly!

Just a quick update on what's going on.

Emil was under the weather for a bit but is now back to his silly self.

Tonight's our Awards and Appreciation night. I've got about 22 certificates to hand out, among other things. Can't get into details yet, but will after tonight! Those on a couple of MBs have seen them, though!

Michael (DS) is moving to Roseville (about 1 1/2 hours from here) in the next month or so. Since he will be commuting for work, he'll probably be crashing here half the time.

I've gotten some great ideas for next convention for our hospitality room (Christmas theme), (thanks Shackies!!) so need to work on those, plus a couple of albums this coming year.

Congratulations to Liz & Bryan (private board)! She welcomed son, Jack 5 days ago.

For one day only...

1st Cabinet meeting and cancelled meeting and other tidbits

We had our first cabinet meeting in the city.

We picked up VDG Jane (pictured center in photo) from Bart as she lived only across the bay. The meeting was a good one, at least not boring!

We were to have a retreat last night, but the weather was just not cooperating. The fog had been bad all day and they even closed a stretch of the highway due to lack of visibility. There had been a 15 car accident, too, not counting the other rear ends that happened.

We were out only as we had to pick up Emil. After we got home, I decided that it was really not a night to be out, so called a few people to say I would not be at the meeting. Later on, I talked to the Barbara (president) who said she was cancelling the meeting. The fog was really thick all over.

Emil was supposed to go to a few visitations this week, but he's going to cancell them. Good thing we didn't have anything scheduled for the next week other than that!

A couple of weeks ago, it was confirmed that I would be the District Chair for White Cane Day. http://www.lionsclubs.org/EN/content/vision_services_whitecane.stm

The funds raised on these days goes towards sight programs. This http://www.lionsclubs.org/EN/content/lions_history_hkspeech.stm was the start of it all.

Anyhow, I've contacted the multiple District to get some hopefully new flyers and information to be distributed to all the clubs.

So, next month when you see some people dressed in the yellow or purple vests with a white cane, please be generous! Also, if you have old eyeglasses, please bring them with you. They will be recycled!
