Hail!

It just got done hailing here. This is the hood of our car after about 5 minutes...

Anyway, I got to go to the dentist today for a consultation. Yay! NOT! He's a very nice guy and a endodontist. Well the verdict is surgery and it's scheduled for the beginning of April. He's going on vaction to fish for 18 days. Guess I'd rather get this done when he's back and refreshed!!! So it's nothing major but he said I'd more than likely want to stay home for a couple of days, only because I'd be puffy the following day or two. So the good thing was that the week I'm scheduling it for, I only have to miss one day of work, which would have been the second day.

Campaign kick-off at the Castle

Well, we did it! We had a great showing of people and the silent auction was a success! There was alot of memoribilia there and unfortunately, I thought my camera was fully charged so only got some pictures. I hope the photographer got alot more and that people will give us copies of their pictures, too! There was a throne in one room with a robe and crown and got some pictures of that (course, I was the queen!) but again, I didn't have my camera out, but a few people took pictures! I'll post them when I get them. But here's a few of what I did get. As you see in the last two pictures posted, the furniture was used on the Bonanza show. There was also a table as in the picture , but it was covered and being used for all the food.

It's official and blog switch

Well, I switched my blog to the new updated version. Hope that if you've got my site bookmarked that it remains the same or gets redirected. I was going to post that if you can't read my blog, email me, but how are you supposed to know that if you can't read this in the first place??????????????? Smart!

Anyway, we attended the Cabinet meeting today and I did it. I officially nominated Emil for Vice District Governor. So, we wait until the end of the month and if I don't get a letter that someone else decided to run, he'll be a shoo-in.

I can laugh about this now, but yesterday a friend was being helpful and giving me a pep talk as he knew (Emil told!) that I was a bit nervous. Well, I really was feeling OK about the whole thing and after the talk, I really was nervous! I woke up at 4:30 in the morning and the first thought that come to mind was Oboy, I have to give this speech later!!!

I don't have the pictures downloaded yet (some pictures taken by someone else) so I'll have to put them in on the next update.

Boy, am I pooped!

I'm tired! Today we served about 45 lunches from the senior home and the other one served about 70 or so. What was tiring was that there was 6 of us working at the one I was at. One passing out the raffle tickets, 2 guys that delivered the food to the shut ins and came back to serve with another, while I and another put the food on the plates. After we cleaned up, we ate then went for our meeting. By the time we got home, it was 6:30 (had to get gas and picked up a pizza for dinner).

I probably would not have been as tired if I didn't work my rear off yesterday. We had patients all day and the phones were pretty non-stop most of the day and I was the only one working (besides the two bosses). So, 4 lines, 1 fax and 2 bosses and then there was me, myself and I. Emil and I did go out for dinner afterwards, too! No way was I going to cook!

I have the next 3 days off, so it's catch up with everything. Laundry, agenda for our meeting on Tuesday and finish up the card basket. Maybe I'll have time to dust. I've got dust dinosaurs around the house. Where's the cleaning fairy now that I need her?

Pictures from convention, Charter Night

Here's a couple of photos from our Multiple District Convention. This young lady from Los Angels was the International Winner for her peace poster. She and her parents will go to New York for the Lions Day at the United Nations where she will be presented with a plaque and $2,500. With her in the photo is Jimmy Ross, our International President from Texas.
The last photo is one that we happen to catch. We were wandering the different booths and here's this little face peeking out from under the table.


Last week was also our Charter Night. 58 years of service. We just figured out too, that if Emil got elected, he would be governor for our 60th. Cool!

And so, today will be busy. We're serving lunch at two senior homes (about 120 people) then we'll be having our nominating committee meeting afterwards. I have to say that my year so far has been interesting but I think I'll be glad when it's over as I'm still not crazy about having to give the reports and the council meetings and all.

Tomorrow's Chinese New Year. The year of the Boar. I'm not ready for it yet.....which reminds me. To clarify my previous post about my generous boss. The things that were given was for Chinese New Year.

My day yesterday....

Well, as you saw from the last post, it was my birthday yesterday. Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes!

Just before getting off work yesterday, one of our bosses' son (he's the generous boss)came up with two large bags (one for each of us girls). I didn't poke around it there, but there was the infamous card in there (she also always give us "lay see", the red envelope with money). Then he came back with two more bags of food (this bag had dim sum in it). It was a pretty nice restaurant that she'd gotten the food from and we said, so where's our drinks (she'd also gotten us the bubble drinks the last few times) and here he comes again with the drinks!

When Emil picked me up, he had the long stem roses and ballon in the car. That was really sweet. So we went to a dinner meeting and a few people from other clubs was there, also. It was pretty nice and I even got ice cream and a song from everyone.

Pictures from the Convention in Fresno & Charter Night

Well, I finally had a chance to update the photos. This time I'm putting the new set of photos above the last set to see if it'd work or not and it does. However, I don't know if it would make the loading of this site slower or not. If it does, please let me know and I'll delete the older set of photos.

Anyway, the convention was not exactly as I thought it would be, as in the last MD4 convention we had gone to. In terms of classes, there really weren't any unless you were going to be a cabinet officer. Other than that, I did have fun meeting up with friends and the International President. We were lucky to get 2 pins from him. I did trade a couple of pins and got one to show to my monkey board friends.


Then this past Tuesday was our club's 58th year as a club. The District Governer Al, his wife Loretta and our Region Chair Mike, all who were also at the convention came to dinner. It was a nice affair.
