White Cane Day
Today and tomorrow is White Cane Day around the district. If you see us this weekend with ballons and bottles for your donations, know that this all goes to pay for eye care for those who need it. Helen Keller spoke at a Lion's Club meeting and issued a challenge and to this day, we're still meeting it.
Did you know that the Lion's Eye Foundation is located at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco? They will be relocated to the old Jack Tar Hotel on Van Ness Ave. in the city after the buiding is remodeled. They will have a full clinic there.
Emil spent last Saturday at Monster Park. Not just to see the game (that was the perk) but he was one of many collecting eyeglasses to be recycled. He came back with a sunburn. Unfortunately, the 49ers lost the game, too.

It is so great that you and your husband do so much with the Lions foundation. I have donated all of my old glasses to the Lions and I am glad to know that they can be recycled and help someone else.

Thanks, Annette.
We have had good response (as good as you can get when you're asking for money, anyway!) when we're out. What really makes us feel good is when someone comes by and says here's my donation. You guys got glasses for so and so or got them an eye exam. And it's even better when you find out it was for a child who might have missed out on so much.
Every so often, we have someone go though our club for an exam or glasses, so we don't know whether it's an adult or child (only the chairperson knows).
